The First Indian National Park was created due to the efforts of various British conservationists who realised the deteriorating health of the natural reserves of the Kumaon and Garhwal regions (in present-day Uttarakhand). From being over-used for agriculture to being exploited for its natural resources to being used in political games, this piece of land has quite a history.
