Description
In
1971, the erstwhile nation of East Pakistan bid for freedom from West
Pakistan. As a result West Pakistan unleashed a terrible genocide on the
people of East Pakistan. On December 3, 1971, India reacted to the genocide
and entered into, what we now know as, the 1971 Indo-Pak war. After fourteen
long days of conflict, Pakistan surrendered, and Bangladesh became an
independent nation. While the Indian Armed Forces made our country proud,
there were a few heroes that stood out for their unparalleled bravery. Amar Chitra Katha tells the stories of four such men, who risked everything to defend their nation. The exemplary courage displayed by these men was honoured with the Param Vir Chakra, the highest decoration of valour in wartime. These stories were picked from our Param Vir Chakra collection. While their victories are remembered every year on Vijay Diwas, their stories still inspire greatness in the youth of the nation. |
